Disgusting

Zoe is learning all sorts of words at school – including ones that I wish she didn’t know. Take this exchange from the other night, when I was talking to Zoe about a character in a new book we just read:

M: “The mommy likes everything about her baby – just like I like everything about you.”
Z: “Well, I don’t like everything about you.”
M: “You don’t? What don’t you like?”
Z: “Um… your lips and your mouth. But I like everything else.”
M: “What’s wrong with my lips and mouth?”
Z, laughing: “They’re disgusting.”

Zoe obviously didn’t know what she was saying – so I was hardly insulted – but I wasn’t thrilled that she picked up that word. And later I found out who to blame: one of her new best buddies in class. (Boys!!)
