One year ago today, we found out I was pregnant. We had just got done watching American Idol, I remember, and I was going to put off taking a test because it was getting late and I was feeling tired. But Q suggested I take one – it wouldn’t take long, he said – and so we found out. I wasn’t initially super excited, I remember; I felt more nervous and freaked out than anything. It took about a week for it to stop feeling totally surreal and odd – but it took many, months to feel even remotely ready for the baby.

If I had known then what I know now – that Zoe would be the most amazing person I’ve ever met, and she would make us feel utterly, deliriously happy – I would have jumped for joy the second I found out I was pregnant. The journey we’ve been on this past year has been so amazing, and it’s been great fun to watch Zoe grow from the size of a sesame seed to the big girl below! I can’t wait for more.
