A happy New Year!

Q and I are ringing in the New Year in a very unfamiliar way: alone! We’re heading down to Pasadena to go to the Rose Bowl (On, Wisconsin!), and we’re leaving the kids behind. I’m sad to be away from the girls, who will – of course – be a huge part of the coming year. But I’m also excited and grateful for the break – it’s the first time I’ve spent the night apart from Avery, and the first time Q and I have traveled alone since Zoe was born (!) – and I know the kids are in good hands with PopPop and Safta (see below).

Avery talking away

Avery is way more vocal than ever before – talking in full-on (though still “toddlerese”) sentences. She had a lot to say when watching her sister and grandma play outside last week, for example, and I just had to capture her chatterings on video. (You can’t see much of her face, but I still love what the video captured. In another month, she’ll probably be – and sound – completely different!)
