I asked the girls to pose for a photo the other day, and look what we wound up with.

Reminders of yesteryear

Thursday, May 7th, 2015

Though they’re getting to be such big girls, Zoe and Avery still do things that remind me of their younger days. Zoe, for example, has been asking me for years to sing her the lullaby I made up when she was a baby (opening line: “Good night, Grandma and Grandpa/Good night, Safta and PopPop”) – and she sometimes even asks me to hold and bounce her while I sing it. (She’s all arms and legs in my lap now, but I try my best.)  And Avery recently started reminiscing about and asking for a book about belly buttons (“bee-bos”) that we used to read all the time. I had packed it away, along with her other board books, shortly before she started kindergarten, but I happily brought it up from the garage this week!

A few weeks ago, Q took Zoe to a Giants game – and Sunday was Avery’s turn!

Another boy friend for Zoe

Monday, May 4th, 2015

Avery isn’t the only Browdy girl to have recently entertained a good boy friend: Not long ago, Zoe hosted a classmate to whom she’s become quite close. He’s Israeli and just learning English, but they have no trouble communicating!

Future husband?

Saturday, May 2nd, 2015

Avery had a playdate with one of her good friends (who she recently started calling her boyfriend) today. I had to laugh when I heard him ask her (again), “Can I marry you?” Avery’s response: “Okay. You’ve already asked me twice already.”

“More than anything in the world”

Friday, May 1st, 2015

“You know what I love more than anything in the world – even you, Mommy?” Avery asked me on the way home from school yesterday. I was curious to hear her answer, which was… Mrs. Hawley (her teacher). As I told a mom-friend later, I didn’t mind hearing this at all. I just love that she loves school so much.
