(We wanted her to be out of, or close to being out of, diapers by the time Avery was born, but that wound up being a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.zoe.browdy.net\/?p=2578\">fairly easy<\/a> target.) It took me by surprise, then, when Avery expressed an early interest in the potty. About a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.zoe.browdy.net\/?p=6960\">month ago<\/a>, she started mimicking Zoe&#8217;s actions in bathroom (sitting on the toilet, grabbing and &#8220;using&#8221; pieces of toilet paper), and she has actually <em>used<\/em> the potty several times, including twice yesterday, since. <\/p>\n<p>(I guess this is the classic example of second children doing things earlier than the first.)<\/p>\n<p>I have no experience with training a child this young (the tricks that worked with a talking 2.5-year-old wouldn&#8217;t fly with a 1.5-year-old one), but I&#8217;ve been asking around for tips and been, as one friend suggested, just going with it.
